About Us

WAY, Widening Advancements for Youth, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit Public Charity organization founded in 2009 by Beth Baker and Glen Taylor to provide a personalized learning experience for all students. WAY manages a network of public charter schools including WAY Academy West.

Founded in 2013, WAY Academy West serves grades 7-12. WAY Academy West is a tuition-free Public School Academy's serving students and their families through a blended learning model. Our schools are authorized by Lake Superior State University according to the Michigan Revised School Code.

WAY Academy's mission is to change lives by creating engaging and encouraging educational opportunities for all young people.

Program Vision

WAY's Academy's vision is to offer a personalized approach to education; one that encourages self-esteem, independence, and the development of 21st century global and career skills. We aim to make every young person a hero.
