Dear Parents and Guardians:

Due to precaution against the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) and under the direction of Governor Whitmer, all WAY Academies buildings will be closed from Monday, March 16th and will reopen on Monday, April 13th, after our scheduled spring break. We realize that this news heightens our sense of concern regarding the impact that the virus may have on our community. However, I want to reassure you that we will continue to support your children via our online platform throughout this closure.

Staff will be online during school hours and available to assist and instruct students. Messages left on the school phones will be returned. Please speak to your children about the expectation to work from home. It is expected that students continue working online daily. We are also working to address food distribution for students in need, more information will follow concerning food service.

We are urging you to continue to implement the CDC recommendations:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing; going to the bathroom; and before eating or preparing food.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

We realize that this is a rapidly changing situation, and as such, we will continually communicate and update any changes with all stakeholders across our community, utilizing our website, social media pages, and robocall system.

Sincerely,

Madeline E. Black Ed.S.
